Surface Preparation

Surface areas should be dry, clean and sound. Wire brush all rusted areas and loose flaking paint. Remove any loose flashings, loose screws and replace. Then apply 4 metal primer to all areas where necessary.

Specification
  • super laykold liquid waterproofing compound (rubberized bitumen emulsion)
  • abe.® stitch bond polyester membrane (150mm/200mm)
  • silvakote

Apply the first base coat of super laykold liquid waterproofing compound over the overlaps of sheeting, metal screws and flashings. Then saturate the stitch bond polyester membrane with super laykold and apply to the overlaps of the metal sheeting, roof screws and at all flashings and allow to dry.

Apply a second coat of super laykold liquid waterproofing compound over the dried stitch bond polyester membrane. Ensure the membrane is completely saturated.

Apply two coats of super laykold liquid waterproofing compound to all gutters and follow the same process with the stitch bond polyester membrane to all joints, angles and verges.

Finish off with a single coat of bituminous aluminium protective silvakote to the complete roof and the gutters.

General

A 5 year material guarantee is effective on condition that work shall only be installed by contractors accredited by a.b.e.®.

Special care must be given to all expansion/construction joints refer to your a.b.e.® Technical Representative concerned for specific details.

All the products are to be applied in accordance with the manufactures instructions.
