Epoxy Tile Pointing Grout (Brewery and Wine Cellar Grade).

Three-component, solvent-free epoxy which is aromatic amine cured with silica aggregate.

For the pointing between acid – resistant ceramic wall and floor tiles. Suitable for use generally in breweries and other tiled hygienic food and beverage preparation areas.

Advantages
  • Chemical and abrasion resistant.
  • Prevents degradation of painting.
  • Eliminating entrapment of contaminant and other harmful organisms.
  • Prevents ingress of contaminants.
  • Easy to apply.
Colour

Brown.

Surface Preparation

All surfaces must be clean, sound and dry.

Mixing

Add the entire contents of the activator tin to the base and, without splashing, stir with a flat paddle until an even streak-free mixture results. This takes at least five minutes. Premix the silica aggregate to obtain even distribution of the various particles.

When using a mechanical mixer, place mixed liquid in the pan and slowly add premixed aggregate, mixing until an evenly coated, wetted mix results. Use this procedure also if manual mixing is carried out in a drum. All lumps must be broken down and an evenly wetted mass obtained.

Application

Apply by means of a pointing trowel. Care should be taken to avoid contamination of the tile surface since the cured material is subject to discoloration when in prolonged contact with certain acids. Wipe off excess material using a cloth dampened with clean water. Do not use excess water as this could impair the cure of the epoxy. White spirits, pine oil or epoxy thinners can be used on a clean cloth to smooth down the joint.

Properties of Cured Material
Max service temperature. Dry: 70º C
Wet: 60º C
Compressive strength @ 25ºC 50 MPa in 7 days
Shrinkage during cure Negligible
Chemical resistance Excellent resistance to spillage, splashing and immersion in dilute acetic and lactic acids, alkalis, oils, fats, greases, aliphatic and aromatic solvents.
Complies in general with SAB tile grout specification (separate test report available)

Cleaning

abe® super brush cleaner before dried/cured.

Protection on Completion

Protect against traffic and spillage until cured. Most epoxies chalk and degrade in extensive sunlight.

Model Specification

Three-component epoxy tile pointing grout.

The tile pointing grout will be epidermix 215, a three-component, solvent free, filled, polyamine cured epoxy grout and is applied in accordance with a.b.e.® Construction Chemicals’ recommendations.

Packaging

epidermix 215 is supplied in 4 litre kits.

Handling & Storage

All epidermix related products have a shelf life of 24 months if kept in a dry, cool store in the original, unopened packs. If stored at high temperatures and/or high humidity conditions, the shelf life may be reduced.

Health & Safety

Wet epidermix 215 should not be allowed contact with skin and eyes. It is toxic and flammable. Ensure the working area is well ventilated during application and drying. Avoid flames in vicinity.

Avoid inhalation of dust and contact with skin and eyes. Suitable protective clothing, gloves, eye protection and respiratory protective equipment should be worn. The use of barrier creams provides additional skin protection. If contact with skin occurs, wash with water and soap. Splashes into eyes should be washed immediately with plenty of clean water and medical advice sought.

Cured epidermix 215 is inert and harmless.

NB: When transporting liquids and semi liquids by aircraft, ask for material safety data sheet.
