durarep ZR primer (Zinc Rich)

All metal to be coated must be clean, mechanically sound and dry. Expose all corroded reinforcing steel and grit blast. A clean bright finish is required ensuring that all corrosion products are removed particularly behind the steel. The anchor pattern should be approximately 40 to 60 microns from peak to valley. Prime before flash rusting occurs, normally within 3 hours of cleaning.

durarep ZR primer will cover 7,1 m² per litre. This coverage is theoretical – various points need to be considered, like surface profile i.e. the smoother the surface the greater the coverage will be, and therefore practical coverage rates may vary.

Thoroughly stir the product before use in order to redisperse any settlement that may have occurred.

After the preparation of the steel, the application of durarep ZR primer must commence as soon as possible. The reinforcing steel surface is to be dry and the priming must be completed within 3 hours.

Using a suitable brush, apply a single coat of durarep ZR primer to the clean, prepared reinforcing steel and allow to dry. Note that this single coat should be continuous and unbroken leaving no open pits or air holes where corrosion could set in.

Should any doubt exist about obtaining a continuous unbroken film, apply a second coat after the first coat has fully dried (generally after 30 minutes).

The primed surfaces should not be left exposed to the elements for longer than necessary before application of the repair material.

The application of the repair materials should commence soon after the durarep ZR primer has fully dried. Do not leave the primer exposed for more than three days.

durarep ZR primer should be removed from tools and mixing equipment using abe^® super brush cleaner immediately after use.

Ensure that all surfaces primed are kept clean and free of contaminants prior to further product applications.

durarep ZR primer should not be applied when the temperature is below 5°C and falling. If any doubt arises concerning temperature or application conditions, consult a.b.e.^®‘s technical department.

Single-pack, zinc-rich epoxy for coating of reinforcing steel prior to concrete repair.

The steel primer will be durarep ZR, a single-pack zinc-rich epoxy coating applied in accordance with the recommendations of a.b.e.^®.

The primer will have drying time of 30 minutes at 20°C and be compatible with the durarep concrete repair system.

durarep ZR primer is supplied in 1 litre metal containers.

This product has a shelf life of 12 months if kept in a dry cool place in the original packaging. In more extreme conditions this period might be shortened.

Store in dry conditions in the original containers. If stored at high temperatures and/or high humidity conditions the shelf life may be reduced.

durarep ZR primer is flammable. Keep away from sources of ignition. No smoking. In the event of fire, extinguish with CO² for foam. Do not use a water jet.

Wet durarep ZR primer is toxic and flammable. Ensure the working area is well ventilated during application and drying. Avoid flames in the vicinity. Always wear gloves when working with the material and avoid excessive inhalation and skin contact. If material is splashed in the eye, wash with copious quantities of clean water and seek medical attention.
