Uses
Suitable for interior and exterior use on most non-porous surfaces including glass, ferrous metal, porcelain, ceramic tiles, plastic, painted surfaces and rubber. Also for bath, kitchen, marine and auto applications.
Advantages
- Mould resitant.
- 25% joint movement.
- UV resistant.
- Excellent adhesion.
- Water resistant hygienic seal.
Surface preparation
Surfaces must be clean dry and free from dust and grease. Non-porous surfaces such as aluminium, glass and metal should be cleaned using a suitable solvent for the substrate.
Mixing
None.
Coverage
Depends on joint size, but should do approximately 7.7 m per 280 ml cartridge on a 6 mm x 6 mm joint.
Application
The use of abe® dura.® cord is recommended as a back-up material. Areas adjacent to the joints should be masked with tape to prevent contamination and to ensure a neat sealant line. The masking tape should be removed immediately after tooling.
Cut the tip of nozzle at the angle required. Apply abe® silicone from a caulking gun using sufficient pressure to ensure adequate contact with sides of joint. The surface of the joint may be smoothed over with a little liquid soap and water to ensure good contact between the sealant and substrate.
Cleaning
Protection / Maintenance on Completion
abe® silicone is UV resistant. It must not be coated with any other material.
Packaging
280 ml cartridge.
Handling & Storage
Shelf life of 24 months, but shorter if in extreme conditions. Keep tightly sealed in a dry cool place in the original packaging.
Health & Safety
abe® silicone, when curing, produces acetic acid, and should not be allowed in contact with skin and eyes. Avoid inhalation of fumes. The use of gloves, eye protection and masks is advised. Splashes into eyes should be washed immediately with plenty of clean water and medical advice sought.
Cured abe® silicone is inert and harmless.
