brixeal is a bitumen emulsion waterproofer

brixeal is a bitumen emulsion waterproofer.

    • brixeal is used for waterproofing the faces of concrete beams and pillars where they come into contact with exterior brickwork.
    • brixeal is used to prevent a bond developing between two adjoining concrete faces.
    • brixeal is used as a waterproof barrier between the two faces of a 230 mm thick wall. It is applied to the outer surface of the inner leaf, in stages, during construction.
    • brixeal is used as a concrete curing agent.

Note: brixeal is black in colour.

    Application

Two coats of brixeal are recommended to ensure that any pinholes or lean spots left in the first coat are taken up, thus ensuring an even coating. Where brush applied, brixeal should be flowed on with as few strokes as possible, making sure that the surface is fully covered.

While brixeal may be applied directly to a stockbrick wall as a waterproof barrier, better results will be obtained if the surface is first ‘bagged’ with a sand / cement / water slurry in the usual way. When brixeal is used for curing of concrete, a coating is brushed or sprayed onto the surface of the concrete, and by virtue of the waterproof qualities of the film, water is prevented from evaporating from the concrete. To allow traffic onto the concrete, the brixeal film can be blinded with clean sand after setting.

    Cleaning

Tools, brushes and mixing equipment should be cleaned immediately after use and before material has set with abe® super brush cleaner followed by washing with soap and water.

    Temperature & Relative Humidity

    Application temperature range: 5 ° C to 40 °C
Do not apply if rain is imminent.
