a.b.e.®s range of applied sealants is based on modified bitumens, tars, acrylics, silicones, modified epoxies, polysulphides and polyurethanes, with a.b.e.® currently the leading distributor of PVC, rubber and hydrophilic waterstops.

Examples of typical applications are sealing of joints in road surfaces, runways and airport hangars, sealing of construction joints in walls and floors in commercial and industrial buildings.

In addition products are used for houses, water reservoirs and sewage processing structures, sealing around general household sanitary ware and certain automotive applications.

Surface Preparation

Contact area must be dry, clean, sound and free from contaminating substances such as oil, grease, asphalt tar and dust. Clean and degrease surface with methylated spirits or isopropyl alcohol. Dampness in porous substrates can be tolerated.

Bonding / Priming

Priming is not required. On damp porous surfaces, a.b.e.® PAINTERS acrylic can be applied as a first coat when diluted (1/2) with water

Application

Cut tip of nozzle at the angle required. Apply a.b.e.®PAINTERS acrylic sealant from a caulking gun using sufficient pressure to ensure adequate contact with sides of joint. The surface of the joint may be smoothed over with a tooling spatula that has been sprayed with a mild solution of liquid soap and water.

Cleaning

Tools should be cleaned immediately after use and before material has set by washing with soap and water.

Model Specification

One-component acrylic sealant. The sealant will be a.b.e.® PAINTERS acrylic, a gun grade, one-component acrylic sealant applied in accordance with the recommendations of a.b.e. ®.

Handling & Storage

This product has a shelf life of 18 months if kept in a dry cool place in the original packaging. In more extreme conditions this period might be shortened.

Health & Safety

a.b.e.® PAINTERS acrylic should not be allowed contact with skin and eyes. The use of gloves and eye protection is advised. Splashes into eyes should be washed immediately with plenty of clean water and medical advice sought.

Cured a.b.e.® PAINTERS acrylic is inert and harmless.
