Epoxy Cement Self Smoothing Screed (1.5 – 3.0mm).

abe.®flo ECC SL is a three component epoxy modified cementitious self smoothing screed. Separate 5L primer. Also add 23,5kg aggregate filler for a repair system.

abe.®flo ECC SL is specifically used as a base layer beneath abe.®cote / abe.®screed coatings, mortars, screed, timber flooring, carpets, tiles etc. When abe.®flo ECC SL is used in conjunction with an impervious top coat, it provides a surface mounted damp proof membrane system which can be applied to green and damp substrates.

Advantages
  • Thermal properties similar to concrete.
  • Self leveling.
  • Solvent free.
  • Excellent adhesion even on damp/green concrete.
  • Does not require curing.
  • Excellent mechanical strengths.
  • Allows fast track flooring application.
  • Can be over coated with floor finish within 24 hours*
  • Waterproof.
  • Vapour check layer (greater than 2 mm thickness)
  • Overcomes ‘osmotic’ problems.

Surface Preparation

(1) The substrate may be damp before application, but must be free of any standing water.
(2) Concrete substrate must clean and sound (a minimum tensile strength of 1.5N/mm2 is required).
Concrete shall be free of all laitance and preferably should be lightly vacuum blast cleaned leaving a uniform texture.

Substrate Repair

Patching irregularities/holes greater than 3mm may be achieved by extending abe.®flo ECC SL with abe.®flo ECC extender filler (23.5Kg per 21 Kg Kit).
Smaller irregularities may be patched using epidermix 201. This should be left overnight to cure and shall then be rendered smooth.

Substrate Movement

All moving joints must be carried through the abe.®flo ECC SL and properly sealed.
Construction joints and cracks may be covered but if substrate movement occurs, the abe.®flo ECC SL will reflect the cracked areas subject to large temperature changes, the effect of these changes on the substrate movement must be considered.

Bonding / Priming

abe.®flo ECC SL is normally applied over a thoroughly sealed concrete surface using the ECC epoxy kit as a primer. Over coating of the primer with abe.®flo ECC SL should comply with the over-coating time i.e. 4-6 hours.

Mixing

Kit components are pre-weighed for optimum performance. Never split or proportion kits. The prescribed aggregate must be used as supplied in kit form and not substituted with an alternative. Do not mix by hand –shear mixing is advised to thoroughly disperse the aggregate components. A slow speed mixer must be used. Ensure that the mixing vanes are below the surface of the mix to minimize air entrapment. The stirrer mixing vane configuration should be such as not to introduce unwanted aeration.

Charge mixer with base component. Add hardener component to the base component and mix for approx. 3 minutes until colour is a uniform cream colour. Add aggregate component and mix for at least 5 minutes (after aggregate addition is completed), until the mixture is uniform.

Application

abe.®flo ECC SL should be applied by first pouring a bead of material in the form of a ribbon on the surface to be coated. Do not leave material in the container too long because it will set faster thus reducing the work life. Using a 5mm serrated trowel, spread the applied material at the specified rate. Apply as evenly as is possible, working from left to right, and then back. Approximately 10 minutes after application, roll using a porcupine roller to aid in excess air release. All over-coating times must be strictly adhered to. abe.®flo ECC SL will not cure if applied at below 10°C.

Coverage

Approx. 2Kg/mm thickness.

Cleaning of Equipment

Immediately after use, use water. Cured material can only be removed mechanically.

Protection / Maintenance on Completion

Protect surface against traffic and spillage until cured.

Model Specification

A three-component cement based epoxy modified SL floor screed. The floor screed will be abe.®flo ECC SL a three-component system comprising a resin and activator blended with a pre-packed filler applied in accordance with a.b.e.®s recommendations including all necessary Auxiliaries (abe.®flo ECC extender filler).

Handling & Storage

All abe.®flo ECC SL related products have a shelf life of 12 months if kept in a dry, cool store in the original, unopened packs. If stored at high temperatures and/or high humidity conditions, the shelf life may be reduced.
