FOR THE PREVENTION OF REGRESS OR INGRESS OF WATER THROUGH CONSTRUCTION AND EXPANSION JOINTS
The pumped storage scheme consists of an upper and a lower dam, each capable of holding 22 million cubic metres of water. The dams, 4.6 km apart, are connected by underground waterways passing through a subterranean powerhouse with four 333 MW generators. durajoint rubber waterstops, are flexible enough to accommodate high joint movements of over 10 mm. These waterstops have a ‘memory’ and will return to their natural profiles after long periods of extension, deflection or rapid and repeated movement. They can withstand a 50 metre head of water.
durajoint PVC waterstops are flexible and easily welded on site to provide the primary seal in the waterproofing of water retaining and/or water excluding structures and offers hydrostatic pressure and UV resistance.
