Waterproofing expertise On Show
a.b.e.®‘s Cape Town branch recently held a training day on the company’s waterproofing products for Northlink Technical College students in Parow.
a.b.e.® and its approved applicator, Top Deck Waterproofing, recently provided a waterproofing demonstration for students at the Northlink Technical College. After a.b.e.® had made informative presentations, the students were shown how to apply the company’s waterproofing products using a torch-on system, the peel-and-stick method and also a system for flashings. Included in the products demonstrated was the new duraproof dekflex product, a cementicious waterproofing system with a reinforcing netting for extra strength.
The torch-on systems were applied with a bitumen primer and then hot welded onto the concrete surface, before counter flashing was applied around the upturns and parapets. The peel-and-stick system saw a neoprene primer and bitumen roll cold bonded to the surface.
The day was hosted by Jeremy O’Ryan form a.b.e.® ‘s approved applicator, Top Deck Waterproofing. a.b.e.® was also represented by Ryan Rack, Earl O’Ryan. Lloyd O’Ryan, Brett Papyanni and Dolores Dick.
