Surface Preparation

Surface areas should be dry, clean and sound, free of voids, sharp protrusions or contaminants. The surfaces shall have a wooden trowelled finish. The moisture content is not to exceed 7% prior to torch on applications.

Priming

Prime all surfaces with bitu.prime, including all verges and around outlets and protrusions and allow the solvent to flash off. Extremely porous surfaces should be re-primed.

Apply the layer of a abedex® unigum 4 mm, dual reinforced waterproofing membrane, ensuring it is fully bonded by means of “torch on fusion” using propane gas, having side and end laps of 100mm and 150mm respectively.

A minimum of 150 mm sould protrude above finished ground level.

All corners to have a gusset fitted, 100 x 100 mm, apply abedex® unigum 4 mm prior to the waterproofing application.

Drainage / Protective Board

abe.®drain G to be used on the vertical area as a suitable drainage and protection system leading to an agricultural drain to engineer’s details before back filling takes place.

Flashing

Use super laycryl flashing system with abe membrane in conjunction with the plain finish. 

General

A 10 year material guarantee is effective on condition that work shall only be installed by contractors accredited by a.b.e.®.

Care must always be taken when working with open flames, potential fire hazard, and molten bitumen from the process, employ safety equipment and clothing where necessary.

Special care must be given to all expansion/construction joints refer to your a.b.e.®s Technical Representative concerned for specific details.

All the products are to be applied in accordance with the manufactures instructions.
