Prune Wound Protectant
tree seal pruning grade is a water-based bitumen emulsion mixed with acrylic polymer and a thickening agent.
Uses
In order for trees and shrubs to remain healthy and continue to grow and produce fruit it is necessary to ensure that these plants are regularly pruned. Correct shaping can help produce better and more economic fruit crops. It is important to remove dead or diseased wood as plants need light to grow well.
Advantages
- tree seal pruning grade is scientifically formulated especially for the protection and sealing of prune wounds and cuts.
- Forms a tough, flexible highly waterproof seal.
- Assists in the prevention of infection by organisms inducing decay.
- Creates suitable environment for callus formation.
- It is durable, easy to use and fast drying and is not affected by rain once fully dried.
- It has an ideal viscosity, is non-phytotoxic and prevents desiccation.
Surface Preparation
Pruning cuts should be made immediately above buds or side branches at an angle of approximately 45 degrees to allow water to run off. Ensure cuts are clean by using sharp tools and avoid damaging or bruising the wood whilst cutting. Apply tree seal pruning grade immediately to the freshly cut and trimmed wood ensuring the entire surface area is completely and thoroughly sealed.
Bonding / Priming
No bonding or priming of the surface is necessary.
