Single-pack, water-based metal etch primer

Uses:

4 metal primer is a water-based acrylic resin with acid etchant and corrosion inhibitive pigments.

As a corrosion inhibitor on clean iron and steel such as gates, fences, garden furniture, air-conditioning units and galvanised surfaces.

Surface Preparation
Iron or steel surfaces should be free of loose rust. Exposed metal should be thoroughly wire-brushed to obtain a clean state. Galvanised steel should be degreased and completely free of white rust and adhesion preventative compounds.
Mixing
Stir well before use.
Coverage

Practical coverage for estimating purposes: 12 m2/litre

Application
4 metal primer may be applied by brush or roller straight from the tin; for spray application thinning with up to 10% water may be necessary.
Overcoating
4 metal primer must be overcoated with water-based acrylics, or alkyd enamels.
Cleaning
Tools, brushes and mixing equipment should be cleaned immediately after use and before material has set with abe® super brush cleaner followed by washing with soap and water.

Temperature and Relative Humidity
Application temperature range:

5°C to 40°C. Do not apply 4 metal primer if surface temperature is less than 5°C or if rain is imminent.

The primer will be 4 metal primer, a single-pack, water-based, metal etch primer and corrosive inhibitor, applied in accordance with a.b.e.® Construction Chemicals’ recommendations.

Packaging
4 metal primer is supplied in 500 ml, 1L, 5L, 25 L containers.
Handling & Storage
This product has a shelf life of 12 months if kept in a dry cool place in the original packaging. In more extreme conditions this period might be shortened.
Health & Safety
4 metal primer is non-flammable but should not be allowed contact with skin and eyes. The use of gloves and eye protection is advised. Splashes into eyes should be washed immediately with plenty of clean water and medical advice sought.

Cured 4 metal primer is inert and harmless.
