Surface Preparation

All surfaces must be free from grease, oil, dust, loose particles and other contaminants. Old coatings, which are stable and difficult to remove, can remain. Very smooth surface should be roughened for better adhesion.

For new concrete, the substrate must be sound and cured for 28 days.

Bonding / Priming

No priming is necessary.

Mixing

For the mixing of dura.proof dekflex, charge the liquid into a clean mixing container. Add the powder gradually while mixing until a lump free consistency is achieved. No additional water is required. It is recommended that mechanical mixing (400 – 500 rpm) should be used for 2-3 minutes to ensure proper dispersion of the components.

Application

Dampen the substrate and apply a dura.proof dekflex 1st coat using a block brush or roller and while the coating is still wet, roll out the reinforcement netting and press it into the wet dura.proof dekflex coat.

At this stage, allow application to dry for at least 2 hours. The drying time may vary depending on air circulation, prevailing temperature and film thickness.

For dura.proof dekflex 2nd coat, follow the same mixing method as above. Apply dura.proof dekflex to completely cover the reinforcement netting and again leave application to dry for another 2 – 3 hours, at a right angle to the 1st coat to ensure all pinholes are closed.

Apply the 3rd and final coat of dura.proof dekflex to achieve the required film thickness and leave it to cure overnight.

Coverage

dura.proof dekflex system covers approx. 2.28kg/m2 @ a dry film thickness of approx. 1.15 mm.

dura.proof dekflex 25kg kit:

Coverage will be approx. 3-4m2 as a 3 coat build-up system at a dry film thickness of approx. 1.15mm per coat.

Actual site coverage may vary from site depending on the substrate condition.

Cleaning of Equipment

Tools and equipment may be cleaned using water before the product set.

Protection / Maintenance on Completion

dura.proof dekflex system is designed for extended life, if not covered with tiles.

Note: Do not cover with stones or stone chippings.
