NATURE OF PROJECT
The new tallest building in Africa at a height of 234m, the 55-floor glass-and-concrete Leonardo development. The building will be valued at about R3bn and is set to offer a mix of residential and commercial space: 230 apartments, 15,000m² of office space, a hotel and a small retail section, as well as penthouse occupying floors. There are 1 300 parking bays. All skills in the building of the Leonardo and all installation works have been carried out by South African businesses. There are currently just under 2 000 people working on site.
Performance glazing further enhances the reduction in energy cost. DOWSILTM 993 is a two-part silicone sealant for structural glazing. DOWSILTM 896 is a onepart silicone with immediate initial strength for Panel Bonding applications. Part of DOWSIL™ PanelFix Tape has been designed to provide temporary load support for panel bonding applications.
