Economical, water based acrylic waterproofing – including abeproof membrane.

DESCRIPTION
abeproof acrylic is a premixed flexible liquid applied acrylic
waterproofing membrane.
abeproof acrylic – 5 Layer System
abeproof acrylic 5-layer system fabric reinforced waterproofing
system is designed to overcome unevenness of roof surface by the
building up of waterproofing membrane thickness.
This system is suitable for positive waterproofing of concrete flat roofs
in areas with light foot traffic.

Uses
  • Waterproofing of old and new roofs
  •  Refurbishment of old concrete roofs and concrete gutters
  • abeproof acrylic – 3 Layer System
abeproof acrylic 3 layer system forms a microporous membrane that waterproofs external surfaces from water seepage and protects it from deterioration due to carbonation, acid or chemical attack and other types of environment pollution.
  • Waterproofing of external walls of old buildings, metal roofs, gutters and asbestos roofs
  • Waterproofing of old roof tiles
Advantages
  • Easy to apply
  • High polymer paste form
  • Mould & fungus resistant
  • Bridges cracks and remains flexible
  • Resistant to ultra violet rays
  • Water-based and non-toxic
  • Available in various colours

Surface Preparation

abeproof acrylic – 5 Layer System
Ensure that surface is sound, clean and free from irregularities, sharp projections, loose particles, oil and contaminants. Old coatings which are stable and unable to be removed can remain.

New concrete must be cured for at least 28 days, with sufficient falls provided to avoid ponding on the finished membrane surface.

abeproof acrylic – 3 Layer System

All surfaces to be waterproofed must be sound. Jet washing or mechanical abrading is recommended to increase adhesion if applied on existing surfaces. Old coatings which are stable and cannot be removed can remain.

Typical Substrate Types:
Metal roof: Preparation: Wire brushing or abrasive blasting.
Timber surface: Preparation: Dry and free from oil residue.
Friable surface previously painted: Preparation: Remove flaking paint and jet surface.

Powdery paintwork/Brick surface/Existing roof tiles:
Preparation: Jet washing.
Joints: Preparation: Wire brushing or abrasive blasting:

Bonding / Priming

Use abeproof acrylic primer for both 3 and 5 Layer
Systems – refer to relevant data sheet for details.

Mixing

Stir well before use.

Coverage

Approx. 40m2 per 20 L for 1 coat at a dry film thickness of 0.3 mm

Application

Generally, abeproof acrylic membrane is applied using a brush or a roller. Due to its elastomeric quality, it may not be possible to achieve a flat level finish and brush or roller marks are common.
Apply first coat in one direction and 2nd coat in perpendicular direction to the first coat.
abeproof acrylic – 3 Layer System
Ensure that abeproof acrylic primer has been applied and allowed to dry.
Apply the 1st coat abeproof acrylic membrane direct from the can.

Only apply the 2nd coat after the 1st coat has dried (apply one coat at a time, allowing interval of 4 to 8 hours between coats).
The final finish achieved after application of two coats of abeproof acrylic (3 for Joint application and includes reinforcing netting).

abeproof acrylic – 5 Layer System
Ensure that abeproof acrylic primer has been applied and allowed to dry.
Apply the 1st coat of abeproof acrylic liquid membrane.
Whilst this coat is still wet, roll out reinforcing net and press into the wet abeproof acrylic.
Allow the coat to dry for at least 2 hours.
Apply an intermediate coat to completely cover the reinforcing netting.
Apply the final coat to create the required thickness and leave the system to cure overnight.

Cleaning Of Equipment

Clean all brushes, rollers, trays, buckets and surrounding areas with clean water before the product sets abe® super brush cleaner may be used after setting.

Protection/Maintaince on Completion

Whilst abeproof acrylic is designed for an extended life, it is important to apply a maintenance coat (abeproof acrylic). Precautions:
Do not apply abeproof acrylic if rain is imminent.
Do not cover with stones or stone chippings.
