Powdered waterproofing admixture for plasters and mortars.

duraproof cem block is a powdered waterproofing admixture that when added to Portland cement plaster or mortar mixes obstructs the capillaries and restricts moisture movement.

Uses

duraproof cem block is used in Portland cement/sand mixtures to waterproof plaster and mortar in the following applications:

• Floor screeds

• Rendering facades

• Plastering walls

• Brick and block mortar.

Advantages

Enhances the waterproofing properties of the plaster/mortar.

  • Does not modify the characteristics of the plaster/mortar.
  • Does not affect the compressive strengths of the plaster/mortar.
  • Chloride free.
  • Vapour permeable.
  • Economical.
  • Easy-to-use powder admixture.
Application

duraproof cem block is added to the plaster/mortar during the mixing phase. Ensure that the duraproof cem block when added to the plaster/mortar during the mixing phase, is thoroughly mixed/dispersed in order to obtain optimum performance. Do not re-temper the mix by adding additional water when the workability has been lost, rather discard the mixture and mix a fresh batch.

Typical Properties
Form Free flowing powder
Colour Grey
Water ingress >90% reduction
Recommended dosage rate 1 kg/50 kg of cement (2% by mass of cement)
Protection On Completion

The newly applied plaster/mortar must be kept damp for at least five days to promote good curing in order to obtain the required strength and durability.

Temperature and Relative Humidity

Do not apply plaster/mortar if temperature is below 5°C.

Precautions

duraproof cem block is not a substitute or will not improve poor plaster/mortar mix, aggregate or grading and mix design or incorrect cement water ratio and curing regime’s used. It is imperative that the dura.®proof cem block is thoroughly mixed/dispersed into the plaster/mortar mix in order to obtain good waterproofing properties.
